Buy It for Your Library

What it is: A great survey of German fighting knives.
What it is not: Comprehensive.
This book deserves a place on the shelf, if for no other reason than the clear color photographs of actual specimens. A nice bonus are period images of the knives being worn by German soldiers. The emphasis is on WWI, although WWII is covered, because there is a greater variety to show. In typical History & Collections fashion, there is broad coverage, but not too much depth. An exception is a chapter on the well known crank handle bayonet/knife, which should help collectors verify their example is authentic. There are other books out there on the subject, but I feel this is the best one to date.

Good basic text on the subject

I didn't know much about German military combat knives, and this book gave me the basic info I was looking for. You should know that this book covers only the issue, field type combat knives, not the Nazi daggers that are popular collectables.
